Quick Thoughts – “Granblue Shodown” Collab Event

Event summary on the Granblue Fantasy English Wiki

Overview

This collaboration event featured characters from the Samurai Shodown (AKA Samurai Spirits) fighting games franchise.

Summary

On the whole, this collab event wasn’t nearly as important as Cinderella Fantasy.

The two event characters, Haohmaru and Nakoruru, are so-so at best. Wind got Fugudoku (wind katana), the best wind unknown weapon to date, but many wind mains forgo unknown weapons entirely. Chichiushi (light katana) only has medium attack up, but it is a decent main hand weapon for the Swordmaster class. Problem is that the Swordmaster class is rarely played in a serious manner.

Nevertheless, I spent a good amount of time on this collab, mainly because it was a good testing ground for my burgeoning wind pool/team. I farmed two 3* wind katanas from the event because, coming from dark, two unknown weapons is standard in non-Enmity Celeste dark builds. I also bothered to get a 3* light katana because the light unknowns I do have are merely 1*.

Hi, I just started this game a week ago and was wondering if you could give me some advice (love the content of your blog btw, great job). I just hit rank 39 and is so far seems to be heading for the direction of building a Wind team, since I drew Korwa. The only trouble I had been having so far seems to be power progression: maybe because I am new to this game, it feels extremely difficult to find ways to uncap SSR weapons? SR weapons I seem to manage just fine, as duplicate drops are frequent enough. Are uncapping SSR weapons only really possible during events?

Most of my SSR weapons are the ones that come with the SSR characters that I drew. If I ever do get the much needed Damascus Ingots, is it better to just save them for future omega weapons (as I hear that would be the typical grid for high-midgame). Thanks in advance for your reply 🙂

Hello! Rank 39 is the “fun” part of Granblue Fantasy, when you’re transitioning from a weapon pool based on raw stats, to a weapon pool based on skills. It’s the stage that makes (and breaks) a lot of players, so hang in there.

I’m not entirely certain how to answer your question, but yes, SSR weapons (particularly those from the premium draw) are not easy to uncap, and you shouldn’t strive to either. It’s better to hold onto them so you can reduce them for weapon elements in the far future. You’ll want to hold onto Damascus Ingots, generally to use on Luminiera Sword Omega since they have limited stock in the shop, and do not replenish monthly like other omega weapons.

For wind, this is the kind of weapon pool you should work toward (fill in the blank spots with your best stat sticks). Any SR Tiamat weapons will work–you don’t have to follow that down to a tee. Replace them with Tiamat Bolt Omega or Tiamat Gauntlet Omega as you acquire those drops.

Thanks for the quick reply and great tips!
Definitely going to try and cap renown pendants every week to speed along my acquirement of omega weapons from the shop. Others had told me that I should try to acquire stuff daily from casino as well, but I guess I just don’t have the patience to sit through dozens of rounds of poker, haha (plus my bad luck, it’s always an “ace” that flips over when I am dealt a “king”, lol)

          No problem.

Hitting the weekly cap for renown pendants is a very good idea, because you can trade for two SSR weapons per month that way. However, I imagine it’s quite difficult at a low level–so at the very least, cap the R/SR bonuses.

You should definitely try to spend a bit of time on the casino. Each month, you can trade for 100 Half Elixirs and 200 Soul Berries (maximum of 5 and 10 per day, respectively). It’s important because it’s difficult to make progress on only natural stamina.

Also, if you’ve committed to playing wind, getting the Anat summon will be a huge boon to your team. 2.5 million chips may sound like a lot, but it takes somewhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours to amass that much when you play 1000-chip bet poker. It’s well worth the trouble.
